Start your holiday season at the grand opening of the Downtown Holiday Market!

There are so many great reasons to be downtown for the holidays: Starting with the return of downtown D.C.’s premier holiday shopping experience! The 19th Annual Downtown Holiday Market returns this Friday, November 17, and we are making sure this year’s grand opening event is full of reasons to break away from your work from home routine to join us from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. for an early afternoon spectacle.

We’re excited to be joined by The Washington Ballet as they preview their upcoming presentation of The Nutcracker — a reimagined tale with nods to D.C.’s rich history. But they won’t be the only ones dressed up in character. Our brigade of holiday toys will take over the Holiday Market with a can’t-miss toy parade to celebrate opening day, featuring your favorites: Ms. Gingerbread, The Grinch, Santa, and more.

And we are telling you … that you won’t want to miss this year’s kick-off because the legendary Jennifer Holliday is also joining us for a live performance that’s sure to ignite the holiday spirit in you! Soporano Teresa Perrotta of the Cafritz Young Artists program at the Washington National Opera will also perform a special musical selection. DowntownDC BID President and CEO Gerren Price along with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser will share remarks and open the Market with the official ribbon cutting.

Stay a little while longer and get a head start on your holiday shopping list by checking out the 70+ artisans and small businesses on site showcasing their unique handmade crafts, clothing, glasswork, jewelry, paintings, and so much more. The Downtown Holiday Market will be open daily from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. through Saturday, December 23. Closed Thanksgiving Day, November 23 and December 4.

This event is free and open to the public. Follow us on X, Instagram, and Facebook for more updates, and tag us in all your holiday fun using #BeDowntown! Click here to RSVP.
