Acclaimed visual artist Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg is set to launch her latest work “alienable right to life,” on May 10, 2024, at Freedom Plaza. The new public, participatory art exhibition promises to be a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant experience for visitors, addressing the impact of gun violence in America. The installation features a massive American flag created from the names of 1,039 mass shooting victims overlaying an image of the Declaration of Independence. Additional elements are an original poem addressing all victims of gun violence, and an interactive circular mural for visitors to share personal stories.

The “alienable right to life” exhibit runs ten days from May 10 – 20, 2024. During the installation visitors can share personal stories, incorporating them in the mural, or they can lay flowers, notes and mementos. For those who cannot visit in May, they can share their stories on social media using the hashtags #EndGunViolence, #PublicArt, #KeepGoing
