The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (DBID) has emphasized the need to ensure the current assets such as sidewalk pavers, street lights; tree boxes that fall within public space are monitored, maintained and improved. Over the past two and a half years the DBID’s Public Space Management Department has been focused on addressing concerns that encompass a wide scope of areas including the safety of pedestrians, and enjoyment of the public realm.
The DBID’s creation of the quality assurance program aspires to improve public spaces within downtown and make sure they are kept in good condition, promptly reported when damaged, and maintained appropriately by the responsible entity. The DBID has a vested interest in safeguarding the quality of these public areas as it relates to the perception of the Downtown, the attractiveness of business, and the general safety of the area.
