Washington, D.C. – The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) on Thursday morning announced their slate of 2016 Momentum Award winners including Mayor Muriel Bowser.
“We are proud to recognize Mayor Bowser tonight as Downtown Person of the Year,” said BID Executive Director Neil O. Albert. “Mayor Bowser’s commitment to the Franklin Park revitalization effort will ensure this long-awaited transformation occurs.”
Bowser is one of seven award winners who will be honored Thursday night at the DowntownDC BID Momentum Awards (#partydowntowndc), held at the Carnegie Library. This annual event honors people, projects and partnerships that stood out for their ability to enrich Downtown over the past year. This year’s celebration will feature the music of Chelsey Green and The Green Project and include a mini shopping village. Party guests will have the opportunity to preview and purchase unique gift items from select exhibitors featured at the Downtown Holiday Market.

Downtown Person of the Year
Mayor Muriel Bowser, for commitment of funds and ongoing oversight to help transform Franklin Park, the largest green space in Downtown D.C.
Public Sector Person, Project or Program of the Year
District Department of Transportation (DDOT), for its congestion management efforts including the completion of District-wide traffic signal optimization, transformation of the Traffic Control Office (TCO) program and implementation of the Multimodal Value Prcing Pilot in Chinatown
Private Sector Person, Project or Program of the Year
Modus Hotels, for opening D.C.’s first pod hotel, Pod DC, in Chinatown
Partnership or Program of the Year
DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) for its collaborative efforts to facilitate the inaugural season of DowntownDC LIve! in Franklin Park
Landmark Development Project of the Year
U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and Trump Hotels for the redevelopment of the Old Post Office Pavilion
Darlene Pope, Jones Lang Lasalle Senior Director Energy and Sustainability Services, for her inspiring an dinnovative work to help transform DowntownDC buildings into energy efficient, high-performance facilities through the Building Energy Summit
