In late June, the DowntownDC BID, the D.C. Office of Planning (OP), and the National Park Service (NPS) spent several days in Franklin Park gathering information that will inform the upcoming plan to renovate the park. Staff counted the total number of people who entered the park at peak periods and mapped the activity in the park over 15-minute intervals.  In addition, at two exits to the park, visitors were asked to take a short survey on how they use the park and what they would like to see improved. This data will be analyzed over the next several weeks, and will help to establish the baseline level of park use. At nearly five acres, Franklin Park is the largest park in the DowntownDC BID area. It is bordered by K Street on the north, 13th Street on the east, I Street on the south, and 14th Street on the west.
