The holidays are in full swing, and there’s plenty to enjoy downtown on your own, with friends and visitors, or with your family. Take the kids to one of the Frosted at Franklin events, check out new food and beverage options and a new museum, and find an excuse to eat more doughnuts than your mom would allow. Plus, there’s a big anniversary for the home of the Wizards, Capitals, and Hoyas, a spellbinding holiday production, a grant opportunity for arts organizations, and ways to make a difference in DowntownDC. And if you're a DowntownDC business with events to share, find out how we can promote you. Scroll down to see more — and we’ll see you downtown.

Let the spirit of the season flow through you as you stroll through downtown’s largest park and its brand-new experience, Frosted at Franklin Park. The DowntownDC BID is filling Franklin Park with more than 20,000 lights, 3,000 decorative snowflakes, and four holiday events to celebrate the season.

There are new businesses to explore in DowntownDC! Enjoy your next lunch break at the plant-based Asian, fast-casual restaurant Pow Pow, across from Franklin Park; cheer for your favorite sports team at Tom’s Watch Bar in the heart of Chinatown, when it opens on December 5; and plan your next event at Howl at the Moon, near Mount Vernon Square. There’s also a new museum to trick your eyes and entertain your mind: The Museum of Illusions opens at CityCenterDC on December 13.

The Underground Donut Tour lands in the District for a Historic Washington D.C. Donut Tour. Whether it’s about the history of the city or about historically significant doughnuts remains to be seen, but it seems like it might be a bit of both. Indulge your sweet tooth and stop by some great DowntownDC spots: Three of the tour’s four locations are in the BID, including Astro Donuts, Centrolina, and Farmers & Distillers. Tours run every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Do you know what the first event at Capital One Arena was? You’d have to look pretty far back in your calendar: It was in 1997, when the Washington Wizards played (and beat) the Seattle SuperSonics. This Friday, December 2, the 25th Anniversary Celebration Concert featuring Imagine Dragons will launch a season of celebratory events for the District’s best sports and concerts venue.
