Monumental Sports and Entertainment (MSE) has committed to keeping the Washington Capitals and Wizards at the Capital One Arena through 2050. The Mayor proposed and the Council unanimously voted to approve a $515 million investment package for renovations to the arena and improvements to the surrounding area.

This decision, along with ongoing efforts to enhance safety and vibrancy in Penn Quarter-Chinatown, is a major step towards the reimagining of downtown D.C. as outlined in the Downtown Action Plan

Many recommendations from the Downtown Action Plan were included in the Mayor's proposed FY25 budget that was submitted to the DC Council today. We look forward to continued investment in downtown.

Let's Get to Work

Early this week the BID launched the Penn Quarter-Chinatown Safety Team aimed at making the Chinatown Corridor a more welcoming area for residents and visitors alike. Training is under way and our dedicated team, equipped with cutting edge technology and backed by community support, is focused on making tangible improvements to safety and hospitality in DowntownDC.

The BID is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community members. Participate in our Safety Perception Survey to provide us insights that will guide our efforts in enhancing safety measures and addressing any concerns within our community.
