5 Ways to #SupportLocal DowntownDC Businesses

Share

Local businesses are struggling and in need of your support. Here are ways you can help:

1) Shop online.
Many DowntownDC retailers and have the option of online shopping. While some local and independent shops and boutiques may not have an online option, they are available to help you get what you need via phone call, FaceTime, or other methods if necessary.

2) Purchase items from retailers who can handle orders over the phone or online.
Major retailers are doing a great job of keeping up with the high demand brought on by COVID-19, so try online ordering from local shops (that have the capacity) to help support those workers. They will need our support now more than ever.

3) Purchase gift cards.
Many local businesses are closed now but they will be open again, so purchase a gift card now and use it later… or send it to a quarantined loved one to show them that you are thinking about them! This is a great way for your favorite local business to secure income in the midst of financial uncertainty, too.

4) Order carry-out or delivery.
Event though some D.C. restaurants have closed, many of them are taking carry-out orders or delivery options (through Uber Eats, Grubhub,etc.). Tipping the same amount you would dining in is also a great support to service workers.

5) Consider donations.
There are still many restaurants and retailers in DowntownDC that are unable to offer any of these options, so consider a donation to a local business that could need it. Any sort of assistance, big or small, could make a positive impact on the longevity of their business.
