UPDATE: 5/31/13 1:30pm: DC Water has completed their portion of the sinkhole repair. DDOT crews are now working along 14th Street between Pennsylvania and G Street reclosing the southbound lane to complete milling and overlay operations. DDOT anticipates the roadway will be complete later this evening. Lanes closures will alter throughout the afternoon and into the evening as repairs are completed.
UPDATE: 5/28/13 3:00pm: DC Water and DDOT notified commuters and downtown workers and businesses that the lane closures will remain in place throughout the week, at a minimum. Reports state a second break in the damaged line was identified and needs to be repaired as well.
UPDATE 5/24/13 8:00am: DDOT and DC Water report continued repairs and road closures. No additional lane openings are anticipated throughout the weekend. Repairs may last through Tuesday. UPDATE 5/23/13 5:30pm: Repairs continue but DDOT reports some progress as they have reopened 2 southbound lanes on 14th Street between New York and Pennsylvania avenues. Road closures remain in place on northbound 14th St as well as on F St (between 13th – 15th streets).
UPDATE 5/22/13 9:30pm: Repairs on the sinkhole continue and, per DDOT, street closures are anticipated to remain through Friday (5/24/13), at a minimum. Sidewalks and crosswalks are accessible and businesses remain open during the repairs. DDOT advises motorists headed northbound on 14th Street to turn right at Constitution and then left on 12th Street as an alternate route.
Due to emergency repair work as a result of a sinkhole, 14th St. NW is closed and parking is restricted between New York Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue. In addition, F St. NW is closed with restricted parking between 13th & 15th streets.
Access to garages beyond E Street on 14th will be restricted- just beyond the Marriott’s garage. No vehicles will be permitted beyond E St along 14th. This currently includes any south bound traffic from NY Ave
All garages on 13th and 15th are accessible.
