Washington, D.C.– “The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) continues to support the restoration of late-night Metrorail service to the levels offered just prior to SafeTrack and views any reduction in service as a detriment to the economy of Downtown and the region.

“While WMATA requires additional hours to conduct overnight maintenance tasks, the current level of service remains unacceptable and could have a damaging effect on the viability of DowntownDC. Quality transit service at all hours of the day is critical to the economic success of DowntownDC.

“We must urge WMATA to effectively maintain the Metrorail system, improve the efficiency of track work, and restore high-quality transit service at all hours of the day–including late night service.”
