We may be past peak bloom, but spring can be seen and felt everywhere throughout the District these days, and we’re loving every opportunity to be outside and gather with friends and colleagues at upcoming events. One not to miss is this Saturday’s Jazz & Blossoms, where the DowntownDC BID and Words, Beats & Life are filling Franklin Park with an action- and music-packed park jam. And there are a variety of other upcoming events, whether you’re all about cherry blossoms, in the mood for some theater, or looking for a kid-friendly musical.

If you joined us last Wednesday evening at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, you know the Momentum Awards event was one for the books! Beyond the winners, there are so many people making a difference in DowntownDC and the District, whether it’s seen in an impressive vegan, fine dining restaurant or the inspirational new exhibit at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.

The National Children's Museum is accepting applications for its artist-in-residence program: Be sure to check out the details to apply or share with your creative friends.

If you’re headed to Las Vegas in May for the ICSC conference, be sure to schedule a meeting with us while you’re there.

And we’re pleased to share a glimpse into the everyday life of the BID, including important training staff pursues.

Catch up on all of this and the latest news in the DowntownDC Digest below.

The fourth course arrives at the table, plates placed simultaneously in front of you and your fellow diners. The server goes through the list of ingredients, noting where some were sourced and how the chef came to create the dish. So far, each course has transformed your thinking, excited your palate, and created conversation. Also, it all happens to be entirely plant-based. For Elizabeth Petty, the founder of this vegan fine dining spot, the path to plants was a personal journey.

The DowntownDC BID regularly engages our Safety/Hospitality and Maintenance Ambassadors and Downtown Day Services Center staff in training that enables them to be proactive and helpful with the citizens they may encounter. Last week, that meant a training session led by D.C.’s Department of Behavioral Health, which included important information about opioid overdose prevention and procedures to administer Narcan. The BID is always working to serve our downtown communities and to train our staff on how best to do so.
