Madison Hotel Completes Renovation
More than a year after Jamestown Realty purchased The Madison (1177 15th Street) for $123 million, or $345,505 per room, the hotel has completed a $20 million faceliftâin time to welcome visitors for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, a big deal for the DC and surrounding hospitality industry. An address of choice for visiting celebrities and dignitaries, The Madison transformed three Presidential suites, which feature custom made furnishings, kitchenettes, and about 2,000 square feet (SF) of living space. It has retained the private, covered terraces attached to some of the most frequently-requested guestrooms and suites at the 356-room property; closed Palette and welcomed The Federalist, which is located adjacent to the hotel and serves dishes inspired by 18th century American food lovers. PostScript, the lobby lounge, remains. Interior designer Dominick Coyne oversaw the renovation, using warm tones of gray, brown and taupe in his color palette. The Madison opened in 1963. âOur vision,â said Michael Phillips, Jamestownâs chief operating officer, “is to restore The Madison to its rightful place among the best-in-class hotels in the Nationâs Capital.â
