It’s a Green World
If you respect the environment, delight in all-natural morsels, or simply long for more “green” related information, the Green Festival set to unfold at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place) on Saturday, October 23 and wrap up on Sunday, October 24, is the place for you.
Event highlights will include 125 speakers—including Ralph Nader, Amy Goodman, and Gilberto Gil—pavilions, workshops and 300 green exhibitors. Experience a real organic garden, learn paper and print making, play recycling games, visit the festival bookstore, learn hoop-dance, yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi and much more.
The festival is a project of Green America, a national nonprofit consumer organization that encourages environmental sustainability and social and economic justice, and Global Exchange, an advocacy group that promotes human rights, as well as social, economic and environmental justice worldwide.
Tickets are $15 (day pass), $25 (weekend), and $10 (for seniors, students, cyclists, and public transit riders). A ticket purchase allows you to get back “green festival bucks,” which can be used to buy goods and services from the event’s exhibitors.
