As downtown assesses any damage (at this time reports of damage are minimum) and businesses start to reopen after the storm here is some general information we are providing to our property managers and business owners.
The Downtown Business Improvement District is asking property managers to inspect damage to public space adjacent to buildings as well and to report any findings
Our visual inspection today of the Downtown BID area shows most damage limited to various trash and debris, upturned publisher boxes, damaged trees and spot flooding.
Property managers are going to be busy throughout the region handling storm-related issues with their buildings and we are asking for assistance in the public space as well.
The Downtown BID had personnel—including Downtown SAMs–monitoring conditions and providing communications throughout the storm. Our partners at Pathways to Housing DC have been assisting homeless persons.
If you wish to report damage, also contact Dispatch or make reports directly to the city at http://311.dc.gov/ or by dialing 311. In the case of damage to parks, make reports to Dispatch or directly to the National Park Service at 202-485-9880.
In the case of a homeless person in need, also contact Dispatch or contact the DC Shelter Hotline at 800-535-7252.
Of course, in case of an emergency, call 911.
We are thankful for the relatively minor damage in our area, and we look forward to working with everyone as we get conditions back to normal.
