- The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities is the official cultural agency of the District of Columbia Government. The Arts Commission provides grants, professional opportunities, educational enrichment and other programs and services to individuals and nonprofit organizations in all communities in DC. - The Arts Commission is supported primarily by DC government funds and in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. Programs and funds are available in four program areas: arts education, grants-in-aid, city arts and art in public places. The Arts Commission supports work in the following disciplines: arts education, crafts, dance, interdisciplinary/ performance art, literary arts, media arts, multidisciplinary arts, music, theater and visual arts.
