This 110-year-old auction house is known for its high-end catalogue sales of estate jewelry, silver and porcelain, European and American furniture and fine art, taking place on Friday or Saturday from September through May, with previews beginning the previous Sunday. Also, every Tuesday, beginning at 9:30 a.m., there's an auction of everything from toasters to pricey china. All items are available for inspection the day before; potential buyers can leave bids or come back for the live bidding. "It's the most fun you can have in Washington on a Tuesday," says Virginia Weschler. Related Categories: Antiques | Jewelry | Points of Interest
