Each month the DowntownDC BID recognizes one outstanding SAM from the Maintenance and Safety/Hospitality Teams who best exemplifies the SAM Program’s core values, and exceeds expectations on the job.  The winners are selected based on their ability to perform duties with a marked excellence that represents knowledge, dedication and commitment to the job. Winners receive an Employee of the Month certificate, a monetary award, and one day’s paid administrative leave. There is no limit on the number of times an employee can receive the award.

Employees of the Month are selected based on criteria unique to their job classification, as well as on the following criteria: appearance; daily logs and incident reports; morale and “esprit de corps”; letters of appreciation from the public; weekly inspection of posts or zone areas; and field spot checks.

At the end of the year, each Employee of the Month recipient is eligible to be nominated for the Employee of the Year award.  The Employee of the Year recipients receive a certificate, a specially engraved plaque, a monetary award and 40 hours paid administrative leave.
