Downtown DC BID 2008 Momentum Awards

The Downtown DC Business Improvement District will celebrate the best of Downtown DC at its Annual Momentum Awards event on Thursday, November 6. That's when we give the nod to the 2008 projects and people that contributed to making Downtown DC vibrant, inviting and smart by:

  1. making a positive contribution to a program or project Downtown by applying political, financial, corporate or individual commitment to assist in revitalization
  2. complementing the work of the Downtown BID or DC government
  3. serving as a magnet to attract people to Downtown or having had major impact upon Downtown by improving the environment or enhancing its economic, cultural, social or physical well being.

All projects, programs or individual activities must have occurred in or had an impact in the 2008 calendar year. 

Award Categories
Downtown Citizen: An individual that has made a positive and significant contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has applied personal or political commitment to assist in revitalizing the area.

Public Sector: A person or organization that has made a positive and significant contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has applied personal or political commitment to assist in revitalizing the area.

Private Sector: A person or organization that has made a positive and significant contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has applied personal, financial or corporate commitment to assist in revitalizing the area.
Partnership: An organization or company that has made a unique, positive contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has been responsible for a project or program that has complemented the work of the DC government and the BID.

Program/Landmark Project: An iconic building, attraction or activity that serves as a magnet to attract people Downtown by improving the physical environment or by enhancing the economic, cultural or social well-being of the area.

Downtown Detail: A small-scale improvement that has had a major impact in the Downtown. This may include flowerbeds, window displays, awnings, etc.

Other: Outstanding work or achievement that may not fit in the categories above.
