2008 Retail Brochure:
Downtown DC Shopping District
Although the Downtown BID area is the region’s commercial, arts, cultural and entertainment epicenter, retail is the one sector of the Downtown economy that has yet to achieve regional success.Click here to download this brochure. This new report, entitled Downtown DC Shopping District, shows that the Downtown BID area has more than 500,000 square feet (SF) of existing shoppers’ goods retail already in place; 90,000 SF of vacant retail space available today; and another 600,000 SF in the pipeline.  With several retail projects planned for completion by 2012, a new shopping district is emerging with the capacity for 1.2 million square feet of shoppers’ goods retail space, enough to make the area competitive with the region’s largest malls and shopping centers.  Extensive data on retail demand drivers and useful market statistics and projections included in the report make a strong case for robust retail growth over the next several years.
