Downtown Person of the Year: An individual that has made a positive and significant contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has applied personal or political commitment to assist in revitalizing the area. 
Advocates for a livable and walkable city and champions the next generation of public transit, building on alternative transit options.

A unique dining destination celebrating the nation’s cooking history and complementing the National Archives’ What’s Cooking, Uncle Sam? The Government’s Effect on the American Diet exhibit.

Downtown Detail: A small-scale improvement that has had a major impact in the Downtown. This may include flowerbeds, window displays, awnings, etc.
Added brilliant strokes of color to the façade of this prominent city landmark on G Street, now home to Forever 21, bringing a chic flair to the streetscape and Downtown retail corridor

Partnership or Program: An organization or company that has made a unique, positive contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has been responsible for a project or program that has complemented the work of the DC government and the BID.  
Worked to develop CapitalBikeshare, the popular bike-sharing system, which is an inexpensive, eco-friendly and reliable transportation option for residents, visitors and workers.

Joined with the BID to place 363 recycling bins in Downtown, offering a convenient and rewarding recycling option for people on the go and further advancing the BID’s sustainability efforts.

Private Sector Person, Project or Program: A person or organization that has made a positive and significant contribution to a program or project in the Downtown; or that has applied personal, financial or corporate commitment to assist in revitalizing the area.  
Created 600 jobs in less than two years, contributing to the economic, cultural and social well-being of Downtown. With nearly 1,000 employees, the company leases space at six Downtown locations, including Gallery Place and the Verizon Center.

Landmark Development Project: An iconic building, attraction or activity that serves as a magnet to attract people Downtown by improving the physical environment or by  enhancing the economic, cultural or social well-being of the area.  

This $85 million, mixed-use project is a Class A LEED-certified building that includes a church, office and retail space; its presence adds life and vitality to the corner of 10th and G streets.

DowntownDC BID VISion Award recognizes an individual in Downtown who contributes significantly to community building, social interaction and creating a more vibrant Downtown environment for residents, workers and visitors.

A tireless advocate for the Penn Quarter community for more than 20 years. She is the first and only executive director of the Penn Quarter Neighborhood Association, and has worked collaboratively with many businesses and organizations, including the DowntownDC BID, to develop a balance between the wishes of Downtown residents, business owners, workers, tourists and cultural and entertainment organizations.
