WASHINGTON, DC – As part of a well-defined plan to offer a new standard for communicating with stakeholders and the public, the DowntownDC Business Improvement District’s (BID) 2011 State of Downtown report is now available via the iPad by downloading a new app which provides the report in a digital format.

The free app features a visual experience of the 78-page report, which was released last month to update public and private decision-makers on the historical, current and projected performance of the major sectors of the DowntownDC BID area and DC economies: development, employment, office, green buildings, population, housing, hospitality, tourism, culture, entertainment, restaurants, retail, and transportation.

App users can magnify most graphs and charts with a touch of their fingers and share favorite pages via Twitter or email. The app also includes State of Downtown streaming video and links to the BID website at www.downtowndc.org.

Earlier this year, the BID made its 2011 Annual Report available for the first time via the iPad. Just days before Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday shopping and travel season last year, the BID also launched a free mobile app for smartphones and other mobile devices, thereby connecting users on the go to a mobile version of the “Places to Eat, Shop, Visit, Stay, Get Services” and “Getting from Place to Place” features on the BID website.
