WASHINGTON, DC – The Downtown DC Business Improvement District (BID) is pleased to announce the appointment of Karyn G. Le Blanc to the position of communications director.  Ms. Le Blanc comes to the Downtown BID from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), where she worked for eight years, most recently heading up the communications department for this vital city agency.

Under her tenure, DDOT saw the successful growth of its communications department and the agency was positioned as a national leader among state Departments of Transportation in both public outreach strategies and government social media strategies.

Ms. Le Blanc oversaw the development and launch of a new media-centric website and a new transportation portal for public transparency and accountability.  In addition, DDOT successfully rolled-out numerous transportation campaigns and initiatives, including large scale streetscape construction projects and bike, pedestrian and safety programs, during her service.  Ms. Le Blanc also served as a key communications person with the city’s emergency response teams overseeing public notification of snow and large scale special events.

In her position with the Downtown BID, she will oversee the communications department and be responsible for developing strategies that will support the mission and goals of the Downtown BID.
