BID Marketing Chief to Head City Economic Development Post

The Downtown Business Improvement District has announced the departure of Deputy Director for Marketing and Communications, Steve Moore, effective in early March 2006. Moore is leaving the BID to assume the post of President and CEO at the Washington, DC Economic Partnership.

“Steve Moore has been an integral part of guiding this organization to the level of prominence and leadership it now enjoys,” said Richard H. Bradley, BID Executive Director. “His talent, innovation and enthusiasm will be greatly missed. At the same time, we look forward to working with him and the Economic Partnership in future, joint efforts to advance economic development for Downtown and the city.”

Moore began work at the Downtown BID as Chief Marketing Officer in 2003. His responsibilities included producing all collateral materials and reports, managing and supporting efforts for retail space leasing, creating and directing varied special events for the Downtown. In 2005, he was promoted to Deputy Director for Marketing and Communications, expanding his portfolio to include directing all aspects of branding, marketing, communications, special event programming, consumer research, merchant attraction campaigns and street vending for the BID.

In this capacity, he also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the National Cherry Blossom Festival, the Downtown Public Space Planning and Management Corporation and the Capital Fringe Festival.  His professional memberships include the International Downtown Association, the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

His career incorporates 15 years with the Rouse Company of Columbia Maryland, where he directed strategic planning, marketing and communications for many of that company’s urban projects including, the renowned Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, the Tabor Center in Denver, South Street Seaport in New York City, Pioneer Place in Portland, the Westlake Center in Seattle and the Arizona Center in Phoenix. Prior to joining the Downtown BID, Moore was Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Horizon Group, the largest outlet center developer in the United States with 40 projects in 22 states.
