Have an old library book tucked away somewhere, a DVD in the car, or a CD over at grandma’s house? Well, the DC Public Library (901 G Street) wants them back—sans hassle, fines or fees. It doesn’t matter that you’ve had them for months, even years, or that they’re in poor condition. Even lost items will be forgiven under its 60-day “Check It In” campaign, designed to retrieve as many overdue books and items as possible to benefit more DC residents in light of recent budget cuts. The campaign starts on Monday, December 5 and runs through Sunday, February 5. What are you waiting for?

In related news, the District of Columbia Public Library Foundation (901 G Street), a non-profit organization that leverages and enhances DC Public Library resources and programs, is seeking donations to create a special collection, provide take-home books to more than 300 preschoolers, and much more.
