Working It in the Park

Despite temperatures in the high 80s, more than 35 die-hard fitness fans turned out for the DowntownDC BID Workout Wednesdays Chisel class at Franklin Park on Sept. 11.

Yes, it was another tough class, but everyone got through it, grueling as it was. Now there are only two more classes to go to what has been a magnificent workout program that will span a total of 10 weeks.

What remains:

  • Sept. 18Yoga
  • Sept. 25Workout Wednesdays Finale/All-Star Bootcamp

It’s not too late to join us and partners Crunch Fitness (555 12th Street), City Sports (715 7th Street) and Freshii (1005 E Street). A Crunch instructor teaches each class in the park beginning at 5:30 p.m. and running about 45 minutes at 13th Street between I and K streets.

Free handouts— everything from gift cards, coupons and water to T-shirts, water bottles and fruit—are distributed during each session. On Sept. 11, the BID once again gave away a large BID insulated lunch bag, water bottle and towel to a lucky participant, who also received a 20 percent discount coupon from City Sports and a Teaism (400 8th Street) gift card.

Stay tuned. A grand prize will be presented at the last class on Sept. 25. It will include a one-year Crunch membership; tennis shoes and a $100 gift card from City Sports; an iPod, courtesy the BID; and a Freshii gift certificate. To quality for this prize, you must attend at least three Workout Wednesdays classes.
