The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) recently announced four developers submitted Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to redevelop the historic Franklin School, located at 925 13th Street. They are:

  • Abdo Development and its partner, CoStar Group (1331 L Street)
  • Bundy Development Corp/Lowe Enterprises, along with the National Association of Multicultural Digital Engineers
  • Douglas Development Corporation (702 H Street)
  • EastBanc and its partner, the Institute for Contemporary Expression and ThinkFoodGroup (717 D Street), celebrity chef Jose Andres’s company

The DMPED will issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) this summer, and a developer will be selected by late fall. Located in the heart of Downtown DC across from Franklin Square, the 144-year-old Franklin School has 51,000 square feet (SF), but only about 38,000 SF of the building’s space is usable.
