What’s not to love about free food, especially when it’s from the kitchen of Central Michel Richard (1001 Pennsylvania Avenue)? In exchange for sensitive palates and diner critiques, the upscale restaurant is serving prospective new menu items through Tuesday, December 21, at no cost. Oh, la, la!

Central chef de cuisine Arthur Cavaliere will give away a limited number of free samples of a new dish to the first group of taste testers visiting the restaurant’s bar at 9:30 pm. Guests will have the chance to rate the dishes for flavor, presentation, marketability, and value. The highest rated dishes will end up on the new bar menu set to premiere on January 1. Get there early!

If the promise of free food isn’t tempting enough, here’s a look-see at the dishes to be savored: tuna nicoise deviled eggs, chick pea fritters with black olive yogurt, chili and cheese steak fries, mini lobster rolls with tarragon mayonnaise, chicken marsala meatballs, chili and cheese steak fries, French onion soup with dumplings and barbecue spare ribs with cole slaw sauce. Still not convinced? Once the taste test ends, a drawing, pulled from the comment cards, will reveal the winners of a free dinner for two.
