The Washington Kastles will kick off their third season in their temporary stadium on the west side of the CityCenterDC site on 11th and H Streets with a July 6 home opener against the Philadelphia Freedoms. The home schedule will conclude on July 21 with a fiery match against Anna Kournikova and the St. Louis Aces.
The Washington Kastles, the defending World Team Tennis (WTT) champions, will host seven home matches. This year’s roster will include 20-time Grand Slam Champion Venus Williams, competing on July 7, and 25-time Grand Slam Champion Serena Williams, playing on July 14. Other star-studded matches will feature Martina Hingis, John McEnroe, Leander Paes and Rennae Stubbs.
The open-air Kastles Stadium offers fans a unique opportunity to see professional tennis up-close and personal in the heart of Downtown. In addition, the stadium will play host to an expanded entertainment schedule featuring a July 19 celebrity tennis contest between professional athletes, politicians and members of the media; the second annual DC Summer Pro Am Boxing Showcase; and, for the third consecutive year, the Street Soccer USA World Cup. Expect to see a new VIP Club Dinner Table section on the north end of the stadium this year.
