State of Downtown

Mark your calendars. On Tuesday, June 2, the Downtown BID will release the 2008 State of Downtown Report and hold a public forum with a panel discussion on Downtown’s economic future. The event takes place at the Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Avenue) from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

The report is published annually to highlight the Downtown BID area’s growth and economic trends, and how they relate to the larger DC and regional economies. The goal is simple: provide the best information available on the Downtown economy to BID members, property owners, commercial tenants, developers, investors and policymakers. The theme of this year’s report, “Holding Firm in Uncertain Times,” will contain data showing that the Downtown economy is sound fundamentally but not immune to bad financial and economic conditions.

Featured panelists will be:
      Neil Irwin, Reporter, Washington Post
Robert Pinkard, Chairman, Cassidy & Pinkard Colliers

Debbie Ratner Salzburg,  President, Forest City Washington, Inc./
   Director, Forest City Enterprises, Inc.

Moderated by:
Richard H. Bradley, Executive Director, Downtown Business Improvement District
