The public memorial service for DC legend Chuck Brown, also known as the Godfather of Go-go, is scheduled to take place from noon to 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 31, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place). L Street, NW, will be closed in both directions between 7th and 9th streets from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm—although all street closures and times are subject to change. The general public is strongly urged to use public transportation. In addition to the Mount Vernon Square/7th Street/Convention Center Metrorail stop on the Green and Yellow Lines, multiple Metrobus and DC Circulator bus routes also stop at the Convention Center.
