The Downtown BID will bring together an expert panel of transit and urban design leaders on Thursday, January 31, at 6:00 pm to discuss the next generation of transit and DC’s transit future. Emmanuel Martin, chief of the Mobilien Division for the city of Paris, France, will join Greg Baldwin, architect and urban designer from Portland, Oregon; Emeka Moneme, director of the District Department of Transportation (DDOT); and Richard H. Bradley, executive director of the Downtown DC BID for this public program.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Carnegie Library Map Room (801 K Street NW at Mount Vernon Square). The speakers are available for questions in advance of the program beginning Wednesday, January 30, at 10:00 am.  A brief reception will be held before the program begins at 5:30 pm. To RSVP, contact Kelly Peterson at transportation@downtowndc.org

Downtown DC’s job and resident growth and many cultural and entertainment attractions create a growing demand for transportation.  A healthy economy and a healthy environment will require new ways of meeting this demand.  Paris, France, is embracing rapid bus service and Portland, Oregon, is benefiting from streetcar corridors.  Downtown DC may be able to learn from these experiences as it continues to shape its transit future.
