The Update is Dead...
Long Live the Update

Dear Friends of Downtown,

More and more folks are using social media for breaking news, and at the DowntownDC BID we're no different. In an effort to get the news to you sooner, we now use Facebook and Twitter, and we're sending out more stories and information more often. Today, most stories are already published before our Downtown Update newsletter comes out, so we’ve made a change: the Update is now an in-depth wrap-up of monthly news primarily found in the Current News section of our website and in our Facebook and Twitter activity. That's why we've given it a brand new look and feel.

Hundreds and hundreds of people rely on the Update each month to get news for and about Downtown. We've always been committed to using the Update and other channels to get important news to you. Our new focus is on delivering news that is more tightly targeted and is in easily digestible, byte-sized pieces. Don't worry. No matter how you ingest your news, it all ends up in the same place. You can still take time at the end of the month to see what has been going on and to plan for the month ahead. Just like the old Update, the new one will let you see all the Downtown news from the past month, and things that are coming up, too. And best of all, subscribers will still get their free monthly email with links to their favorite stories.

We would love to receive feedback from you. Please send an email to update@downtowndc.org and let us know how you feel about our changes.

See You Downtown,

Richard H. Bradley
Executive Director
DowntownDC BID

June 2011 SAMs of the Month:

This month honors go to Safety/Hospitality Team Member Linda Jeter and Maintenance Team Member Ronald Calhoun.

Native Washingtonian Linda Jeter joined the BID in February 2006. This is her third SAM of the Month award. No one is surprised.

Former US Marine Ronald Calhoun joined the Maintenance Team in March 2007. Establishing himself as a true leader, he first received a SAM of the Month award after being on the job for a mere two months. Read more about these excellent employees
