Get into the spirit of the 2012 National Cherry Blossom Festival Centennial Celebration. Businesses and individuals alike are encouraged to climb on board to bring the spirit of the Tidal Basin into DC and surrounding neighborhoods by visually uniting the region with decals, yard signs, wall and floor graphics, pink lighting and blossom projections on iconic buildings—really, you name it!

With everyone’s participation, the city will be “in bloom” throughout the spring of 2012 to observe the unprecedented five-week celebration of the 100th anniversary of Tokyo’s gift of trees to Washington, DC. The Festival will occur from Tuesday, March 20, the first day of spring, through Friday, April 27, Arbor Day.

In addition to illuminating the DC skyline, a blossom trail will make its way onto street pole banners, taxicabs, and public transit, and into the airport and train depot at Union Station. Let’s just say there will be a massive pink infusion everywhere, and we hope that you will join the fun, celebration, and campaign to showcase DC as the ultimate springtime destination and deliver our brand to the world during this once in a lifetime tribute.

The City in Bloom campaign will transpire during the Festival, but you can start planning for it now. Because exceptional collaboration is needed, here’s what you can do:

• Purchase exterior, interior, and Gobo projections for small, medium and large building starting at $2,500, $15,000, and $20,000, respectively.
• Purchase residential packages for $15 to $50.
• Purchase individual items—from pins, window graphics, decals, and banners—ranging in price from $1 to $200.

Purchases can be made at www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org/cityinbloom, although some items will be available in the weeks ahead, so keep checking back!

In addition, businesses and organizations can contact Lisa Strong, the City in Bloom project manager, for more information and to become City in Bloom partners, who will be promoted via Festival marketing and public relations efforts. She can be reached at lisa@downtowndc.org or 703.232.7220.
