In this Year of the Rabbit, hop on over to the Chinese New Year Parade, which happens on Sunday, February 6, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, on H Street, between 6th and 8th in Chinatown.

Downtown will celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year with a parade that features the traditional Chinese dragon and lion dances, Kung Fu demonstrations, live musical entertainment and the giant firecracker—an all-time favorite that explodes at 3:45 pm. Don’t miss it!

Once again, from noon to 5:00 pm, the festivities will include programs and activities at the Chinatown Community Cultural Center (616 H Street). Revelers can participate in traditional Chinese calligraphy, children’s crafts, face painting, live music and dance performances, poetry readings, film screenings, raffles, free giveaways and much more.

Expect to also see special guest performances by Wong People, a DC-based organization that works to promote Chinese culture and martial arts, and students of Yu Ying Public Charter School.
