Jaleo (480 7th Street), Downtown’s first destination restaurant in decades following the area’s dramatic transformation in the late 1990s, is getting a makeover. Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema broke the news, saying the award-winning tapas restaurant plans to adopt a more modern and provocative Spanish look.  Details, he notes, are still being finessed, but celebrity Chef Jose Andres is contemplating shuttering the restaurant after Restaurant Week in late January for about two weeks. So it will be out with the old, and in with the new, including “a blend of playfulness and chic.” Very good food will still be had by all, but some new dishes and drinks are expected to whet the appetite.
