Discover the latest sustainable innovations in water conservation, lighting techniques, learn about LEED v4 and more for your building at the June 4 “Current Trends in Sustainability” seminar produced by the DowntownDC BID and the Apartment and Office Building Association (AOBA) of Metropolitan Washington.

Downtown property managers, tenants and service providers will learn from a panel of experts how to most effectively work together on a range of green issues in the Washington Metro Region.

Additionally, Uwe Brandes, Executive Director of Georgetown University’s Master of Professional Studies in Urban and Regional Planning, will lead a presentation on EcoDistricts and their program in the D.C. region. The BID in 2011 established its entire 138-block area as the DowntownDC BID ecoDistrict in 2011 in an effort to enhance living, working and visiting Downtown while simultaneously offering a boost to business and property owners.

The DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU) will also offer a presentation and Q&A for attendees on energy efficient programs for commercial and multifamily properties.

The BID worked with partner Urban Land Institute (ULI) Greenprint Center to prepare ULI’s first Metro, Washington D.C. ULI Executive Director Helen Gurfel at the June 4 seminar will discuss the report and how companies can participate in the updated report, which will include residential, commercial and government buildings. The updated report will debut at the global 2014 EcoDistricts Summit, which will be held Sept. 24-26, 2014 in the heart of Downtown D.C.
