If you have photographs or photo books you’d like to enter in FotoWeekDC’s Fifth Annual International Awards Competition, don’t panic. Although the August 6th early bird deadline has passed, standard submissions will be honored through September 17th, with an extended deadline through September 23rd (for a slightly higher submission fee). Cash prizes total $26,000 and winning images will be exhibited online and at FotoWeekDC, the annual photography festival organized by FotoDC (1299 Pennsylvania Avenue) and taking place November 9-18 in Downtown DC. So far, the competition has more than 725 entries from photographers of both professional and amateur persuasion (anyone can submit). New for 2012 are the FotoBook and Modern-Vintage categories and FotoWeekEDU, the organization’s new educational hub which will be located at the Goethe-Institut (812 7th Street). FotoWeekEDU’s program, including portfolio reviews, seminars and ticket sales, will be available online by next week.
