Fun, festive outdoor events are coming to DowntownDC this holiday season, offering a slew of free, public events guaranteed to bring cheer to even the most determined scrooge.

Mark your calendars for the following:

The festivities kick off Nov. 22 with the Annual Holiday Window Unveiling at Macy’s (1201 G Street NW).

The department store is bringing celebrities, performers, Santa and more together for a free, public celebration during which their holiday window designs will be revealed.

To take part, head to G Street between 12th & 13th streets NW at 2pm Nov. 22 for the festivities, featuring recording artist Mali Music and local contestant of “The Voice” Ddendyl, both of whom will be available inside the store for a meet and greet with fans.

Co-hosts American Ballet soloist Misty Copeland and Fox 5 anchor Allison Seymour will lead the event, which will feature performances by the WPAS Children of the Gospel Choir and The Washington Ballet, which will perform excerpts from The Nutcracker, and the Ballou High School Marching Band.

Explore the department store after the 2pm unveiling to meet Copeland, Ddendyl and Mali Music, enjoy toasty beverages and goodies, watch performances, meet Santa and more.

Plus, if you spend $100 at Macy’s Nov. 22, you’ll get a voucher for one pair of tickets to The Nutcracker, performed by The Washington Ballet, and a copy of Copeland’s book, “Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina.” (One voucher per customer while supplies last.)

On Nov. 28, the 10th Annual Downtown Holiday Market opens in DowntownDC, bringing a diverse, fun and festive open-air marketplace to Downtown for 26 days. The market, produced by the DowntownDC BID and Diverse Markets Management, will feature more than 150 exhibitors offering everything from fine art to holiday edibles, photography, clothing and more daily from noon to 8 pm on F Street between 7th and 9th streets NW.

As shoppers stroll through the unique marketplace, they will be treated to live performances including gypsy jazz from the Hot Club of DC, updated classics from Ian Walters & Friends and more and can enjoy tasty treats, hot beverages and holiday decorations.

This year, the shopping continues beyond the market. Guests will be invited to extend their trip by participating in the DowntownDC Retail Walk and visiting local destination retailers throughout Downtown. The walk, anchored by the Downtown Holiday Market, will lead shoppers to retailers along F Street including H&M, The Gap and more, Macy’s, and high-end luxury stores at CityCenterDC including Kate Spade New York, Burberry and Hugo Boss.

The fun continues Nov. 29 when CityCenterDC holds their public Holiday Tree Lighting.

Gather at the Park at CityCenter at 6pm for this fun and festive event.
