Smitten by technology? Love a math challenge? Curious about engineering? Then head on over to the USA Science & Engineering Festival, taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place) from Saturday, April 28 to Sunday, April 29. Everyone from toddlers to adults is invited—and it’s free!

Expect to find more than 3,000 different hands-on activities and experiments as well plenty of scientists and engineers to talk up. Check out more than 100 stage shows featuring science magicians, nano jugglers and more, including The Physics of Hollywood Movies and Who Wants to be a Mathematician.

While you’re at it, catch an exhibit—there will be 500 total, including How Satellites Work; Meet the Astronauts; and the Museum of Interesting Things, a traveling interactive demonstration-exhibit of antiques and inventions—and visit the Book Fair for the chance to tune into featured author presentations and see Book Fair exhibitors, who will be selling or giving away books geared at the K-12 grade crowd.

New this year: a Career Pavilion for high-school students.

The Festival runs from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on April 28, and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 29. Two Saturday evening events, a Stargazing Party at the National Air & Space Museum, replete with Voyager Tours, and a panel discussion at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium entitled Science Stories in Society & School: Using Narrative to Bridge the Gap will take place at 7:45 pm, 6:30 pm, and 8:00 pm, respectively.
