We’re not shy about promoting our 15th anniversary. In fact, we’re downright excited! Since launching in 1997 with an initial and immediate goal to make Downtown DC clean, safe and friendly, the DowntownDC BID has come a long way helping to revitalize Downtown’s urban core, transforming it from “dull, dirty and dangerous” to a “vibrant, inviting and smart” urban enclave with new restaurants, cultural venues, retail stores and residential housing. As the oldest and largest BID in the city, we’ve forged critical partnerships, set high standards, and provided bold leadership to meet the organization’s ambitious agenda and vision of a world-class, diverse and sustainable Downtown second to none.

Now it’s time to celebrate, not only our successes but Downtown’s extraordinary evolution into a remarkable urban experience. To mark this milestone, our year-long celebration will kick off at the International Spy Museum (

800 F Street

) on November 15th.  Steven Jumper, director of corporate public policy for WGL Holdings, Inc. (

101 Constitution Avenue

) and the BID’s chairman, along with Richard H. Bradley, the BID’s executive director, will welcome several dozen invited guests, including Milton Maltz, creator of the SpyMuseum, and a special, local celebrity in wax.

Because the year will include some neat special events, many cross marketing opportunities with Downtown stakeholders, cultural institutions, restaurants and hotels are available. It’s not too late to partner with us, as the Spy Museum; Hines, a privately-owned international real estate firm and one of the Downtown BID area’s largest property owners; Capital Business; and Madame Tussauds (1025 F Street) wax museum already have.

Learn more about our special partnership opportunities, and join us in celebrating Downtown’s magnificent transformation.
