Downtown is filled with “Love,” “Peace,” “Hope,” and “Joy” following the DowntownDC Business Improvement District’s (BID) installation of 140 holiday banners bearing those words throughout the Downtown BID area.

The white and red banners crisscross Downtown along New York Avenue, Constitution Avenue, in several additional corridors and in the areas surrounding the Downtown Holiday Market, which is open now through Dec. 23 each day from 12-8pm on F Street between 7th and 9th streets NW. The market is presented by the DowntownDC BID and operated by Diverse Markets Management.

Additionally, some street poles feature glowing 5-foot snowflake lights, lighting up Downtown with festive holiday spirit in the evenings.

“The DowntownDC BID is pleased to help visitors as well as residents connect DowntownDC with the holidays as a favorite place to visit and a favorite place to shop for holiday gifts,” said BID Executive Director Neil O. Albert.

The DowntownDC BID has been decorating Downtown for the holidays for the past ten years.

Following the holiday season, the BID’s new regular street pole banners will be reinstalled.

The BID maintains street pole banners, holiday street pole decorations and, separately, BID staff designs bus shelter maps with support from the District Department of Transportation (DDOT).

The Downtown Holiday Market, currently in its 11th year, has been nominated for a USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice Award for Favorite Holiday Festival. In addition to visiting the market this season, vote today and daily here until Dec. 25th to support the market!
