Another arts provider has purchased its space in the Downtown. CulturalDC (916 G Street) bought its Flashpoint arts space, ensuring a permanent home for the combination black box theater, dance studio and art gallery. PN Hoffman sold the property for an undisclosed amount, paid for in part by a substantial gift from a generous donor.  CulturalDC now plans to raise money for renovations to upgrade and reconfigure the space, including possibly expanding the dance space and addressing signage and access issues for patrons visiting both the studio and theater. After more than eight years in Downtown, the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company (641 D Street) also purchased its 30,000-square-foot facility in May.

CulturalDC is located across the street from the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (901 G Street) and has occupied about 6,000 square feet of ground floor space in the 10-story residential condominium building for 10 years. It also owns the Source arts space on 14th Street and has helped launch several arts organizations, including Artomatic, the Capital Fringe Festival, Step Afrika! and the Washington Improv Theater.
