The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) hosts this much talked about awards gala, which will take place at the Omni Shoreham Hotel this year. Downtown finalists include: Art and Soul and Adour for New Restaurant of the Year; Cedric Maupillier, Central Michel Richard and Mike Isabella, Zaytinya, for Rising Culinary Star of the Year; Oyamel, Rasika and Zaytinya for Upscale Casual Restaurant of the Year; Co Co. Sala, Proof and The Source for Hottest Restaurant Bar Scene of the Year; Oya, The Willard Room and Zola for Wine and Beverage Program of the Year; Jennifer Roe, DC Coast, Juan Francisco Lopez, Brasserie Beck and Marco Guzman, Café Atlantico for Restaurant Employee of the Year; Central Michel Richard, Charlie Palmer Steak and The Source for  Power Spot of the Year; Tom Burke, Brasserie Beck, Diego Zeballos, Jaleo, Ryland Johnson, Zola and Brian Zipin, Central Michel Richard, for Restaurant Manager of the Year; and Vikram Sunderam, Rasika and Robert Wiedmaier, Brasserie Beck for Chef of the Year.

The “creative” black-tie affair will go for six hours, from 6:00 pm to midnight, and include a reception, dinner and award ceremony and dancing. Tickets are $175 for RAMW members and $225 for non-RAMW members. In addition to honoring the best of the best, the annual soiree fulfills a social need: a portion of the proceeds benefit the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington Education Foundation scholarship program for high school students.
