Charitable Lunch

Indulge in delectable morsels for a cause extraordinaire when the Verizon Center opens its doors for an informal Taste of Eleven Luncheon on Wednesday, May 20, from noon to 2:00 pm. Last year’s inaugural luncheon raised $15,000 for local charities within the first 40 minutes!

A repeat performance is expected again this year, when more than 30 area restaurants converge to sell everything from seafood to ice cream to ravenous Downtown workers, residents and visitors. And all for a good cause—proceeds will benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, the metropolitan Washington area’s largest public nonprofit hunger organization.

For $11, patrons get to sample up to six lunch items per person from a host of participating restaurants and food chains, including Zaytinya, Matchbox, Brasserie Beck, Chipotle, Gifford’s Ice Cream, The Source, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant, Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s. Tickets will be available for sale on the day of the luncheon at the Verizon Center.

Wizards Care, a Washington Wizards basketball team initiative that provides assistant to youth, the homeless and underserved individuals in the metropolitan Washington area, is hosting this second annual luncheon. In addition to raising money for charity, the event will celebrate the Verizon Center’s 11th year in Downtown.
