On the G Street side of the library, Bike and Roll DC is now offering bike rentals—including kids’ equipmentin a fantastic location steps away from some of the city’s best landmarks. Bike and Roll DC, which is part of a national company, now offers all-new Trek bikes in four locations in the D.C. Metro area: in the new DowntownDC location, at Union Station, at a bike and Segway tour hub at L’Enfant Plaza and in Old Town Alexandria, where Bike and Roll DC offers self-guided rides to Mount Vernon which include estate admission and the option to boat back to Old Town along the Potomac.

Beginning in May, visitors to the DowntownDC location only can rent signature, limited-edition specialty bikes offered in line with Destination DC’s “DC Cool” campaign. These 7-speed bikes come equipped with leather seats, hammered aluminum fenders and retro front baskets.

The Downtown location is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Credit cards only are accepted.

The Bike and Roll DC location at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library is a welcome addition to Downtown as well as to the library, which is currently in the planning stages of a massive $200-$250 million renovation. Architecture team Martinez & Johnson/Mecanoo has been chosen to redesign the library’s historic Ludwig Mies van der Rohe building and create a modernized and re-imagined new central library for the city.

In addition to Bike and Roll, DowntownDC is home to Capital Bikeshare’s bike sharing system, of which the DowntownDC BID is a partner. Capital Bikeshare offers over 2500 bikes at 300 stations in D.C. and parts of Maryland and Virginia.
