The 10-day Capital Pride 2010 celebration gets underway on Friday, June 4, and runs through Sunday, June 13. Downtown will host a variety of events, including the annual Festival which takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on June 13.

In addition to the annual street festival and parade celebrating pride in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, Capital Pride will include citywide town hall meetings, interfaith services, cultural activities, parties and a reception recognizing “Heroes” in the LGBT and allied community that have made a difference in people’s lives.

Downtown events include Twilight Tuesday and the 35th Anniversary Party, both at the Donovan House (1155 14th Street); a panel discussion with President Obama’s LGBT appointees at the National Press Club (529 14th Street); and the annual Festival, the street finale on Pennsylvania Avenue. Pre-event happenings include a 2010 Pride Eucharist at the Church of the Epiphany (1317 G Street); the Heroes and Engendered Spirits Awards Reception at the Madison Hotel (1177 15th Street); and Spy a Spouse at the International Spy Museum (800 F Street).

The annual Parade steps off at 6:30 pm on Saturday, June 12, from Dupont Circle and ends at Thomas Circle, at the junction of Massachusetts and Vermont Avenues and 14th and M Streets.
