The June Safety Hospitality SAM of the month is Joseph Thornton, a Foggy Bottom native who joined the BID in February 2006. Joseph is a community activist and former U.S. Army veteran who earned five Bronze Star medals during his service in the Korean War. An outgoing and dependable family man who considers it a privilege to help people learn about Washington, DC, says, "I try in the few minutes I’m given to make visitors feel good about their decision to come to my hometown."

Ronald Calhoun is the June Maintenance SAM of the month.  Having recently joined the BID in March 2007, Ronald quickly established himself as a true leader and top performer. The Dallas Cowboys fan and former U.S. Marine is an Alabama native, but has called Washington, DC, home for more than 17 years.  This grandfather of two hopes to continue to prosper at the BID and is really enjoying his new role.  We wish him continued success.

Congratulations to two Downtown heroes, Joseph and Ronald.  Keep up the good work!
