Streetcar Showcase

All aboard! The public will have the opportunity to experience DC’s modern streetcars up close and personal May 5 through May 8 when the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) hosts a DC Streetcar Showcase at CityCenterDC (New York Avenue and H Street between 9th and 11th Streets).
 
It’s no secret that DDOT is developing a 37-mile, eight line streetcar system that will serve 150,000 riders a day. They've already begun constructing two lines, with streetcar service expected to start in 2012 in Anacostia and on H Street/Benning Road. In the meantime, DC residents, workers and visitors will be able to board one of the streetcars and learn more about how they will operate in the city.
 
The schedule for the free event is as follows:

• Wednesday, May 5, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
• Thursday, May 6, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
• Friday, May 7, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm
•  Saturday, May 8, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
