William Shakespeare is in town—his wax figure, that is. Thank the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) and Madame Tussauds (1025 F Street), which partnered to bring the brilliant English poet and playwright to STC’s Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street) through May 31, 2012. Why now? In celebration of the classic theatre’s 25th Anniversary Season. It’s the wax bard’s first public appearance in the U.S., having arrived from Madame Tussauds London (in 1819, wax sculptor Marie Tussaud made the original wax figure, which was re-sculpted in 1951 and again in 1993) in time for the opening of Much Ado About Nothing, running through January 7. Visitors are invited to take photos with Mr. Shakespeare during business hours, Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 5:45 pm, and before performances and during intermission. Much ado about nothing? We think not!
