Release Date: Wednesday, October 5th 2011

That’s the message being floated about in advance of Rail~Volution, the premier conference on transit and livable communities, coming to DC on Sunday, October 16 through Wednesday, October 19. What to expect: comprehensive, hands-on events at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel and on the streets, both throughout DC and neighboring communities. Highlights include mobile workshops, touring planned and new initiatives—such as the DC Streetcar along H Street/Benning Road NE—and visiting some of the region’s most successful projects.

There’s more. Rail~Volution, in conjunction with the Coalition for Smarter Growth (CSG), will host a film festival featuring short films on transit and livable communities.  Purchase tickets  in advance, grab your popcorn and enjoy some great entertainment. And to encourage local participation, DC Mayor Vincent Gray is offering a limited number of one-day scholarships for District residents and community leaders.

The DowntownDC BID is a sponsor of this four-day gathering, which is attracting more than 1,000 developers, business leaders, planners, government officials and others from around the nation and the world. Join the Rail~Volution. For more information about the conference and to register, visit www.railvolution.org, or www.railvolutiondc.com/local-program.html for more about local programs.
